On Earth Day, 22 April 2027, a local Amsterdam radio station will broadcast hours of nature: water, wind, birds, forests, dunes and coastline, recorded in and around the city. The sounds won't just be played back. Artists layer, compose and mix them live, with poetry read in between.
We'll ask neighbours in the Red Light District to place speakers in their windows and play the broadcast at the same time. For a few hours, the centre of Amsterdam becomes a nature reserve.
Underneath the broadcast runs research: neuroscience (how nature sound changes stress and attention), behaviour change science, and acoustic ecology. We want to know what happens to a city, creatively and behaviourally, when it stops to listen.
We are all artists. We shape our reality, and our actions, individually, matter. BEEHAVE is built collaboratively, one contribution at a time.
